Duke of Edinburgh Award

Adventure Beyond has been working with groups doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award since we were first set up in 1997.

We are an Approved Activity Provider through the Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as being an (AALA) Adventure Activities Licensing Authority approved centre.

We are specialists in canoeing, kayaking and walking expeditions, catering for all, from the total beginner who's never looked at a map and doesn't know how a tent is pitched, through to the more experienced groups looking to challenge themselves at Gold.

We provide training, practice expeditions and assessed expeditions.

Training is provided at a suitable venue depending upon the type of expedition undertaken and the location of your group. We often travel around the country providing this training at Schools, out on the hills or on rivers. We always try our best to accommodate the busy schedule of the groups and schools. Quite often, groups undertaking the DofE are in their exam years, so we will aim to make the training fit as best as possible into their programme.

Unaccompanied practice expeditions will have qualified staff overseeing by 'distance supervision' - this is to ensure that if there are any situations arising, help can arrive in a timely manner.

Unaccompanied assessed expeditions will have qualified staff provided by Adventure Beyond to maintain a high level of safety. Our staff are highly qualified and experienced in the mountains, hills, rivers and sea. All staff hold the relevant National Governing Body Awards for the relevant mode of expedition:

  • Mountain Leader
  • 4* Canoe
  • 4* Sea Kayak
  • First Aid qualified
  • DBS checked
  • DofE Assessors

There is so much more information - please get in contact and we can discuss your needs and find the right thing for you, either by our contact form or by giving us a call.

Previous Schools

Here at Adventure Beyond, we have worked with a variety of schools from many different backgrounds from all over the country. With our spirit for adventure, we are happy to travel all over which allows us to hold training through to qualifying expeditions from the school to the furtherest reaches of the UK.
