Morocco

Authentic activity expeditions in Morocco.

MoroccoMorocco is the closest place within Europe that you can get a truly alternative cultural experience. The combination of Morocco's diverse Arabic culture, friendly people and high mountains provides the foundation for unforgettable memories. The native Berber people of the high Atlas mountains of Morocco are special in their own right. They are very kind and appreciate the right kind of visitor coming to their country.  They love to share their culture and we make sure we use local guides on our expeditions so that your hiking or climbing experience is maximised culturally as well as physically.

For all of our trips we will base ourselves in the historic centre of Marrakech also known as the "Red City". Marrakech is the capital of the south. The atmosphere is distinctly more African than that of Fez or Rabat. The setting of the city is stunning with ochre stucco buildings surrounded by the snow−peaked Atlas mountains. A visit to Jma−el−Fna square is a must where in the early evening you can mix with the snake charmers, musicians, dancing bears, acrobats and storytellers. Around the square you will see stall after stall offering for sales fresh exotic spices, fruit and local food, all at a reasonable price. Marrakesh is simply fantastic!

Mt Toubkal national park is located only 65 km south of Marrakech, and at an altitude of 4,167 metres, Mount Toubkal it is the highest peak in Morocco, the High Atlas Mountains and North Africa. Mt Toubkal is also known as Jebel Toubkal. Toubkal and the park itself is an impressive massif that is proving to be a mecca for trekkers and climbers. From the summit there are magnificent views of the Atlas range and the mountain is the premier attraction of the park as well as being one of Africa's most famous mountains.

The first ascent by Europeans was on 12 June 1923 by the Marquis de Segonzac, Vincent Berger and Hubert Dolbeau, but the mountain may had been climbed before that date. Thousands of adventurous trekkers and climbers have followed these pioneers and Toubkal´s attraction will continue to grow with many more thousands yet to follow.
