MOUNTAIN FACT FILE - Mt TOUBKAL: 4,167m (13,671' ). 63 km south of the city of Marrakech. Grade - summer 1A/B, winter 2/B.
MOUNTAIN PROFILE: Mt Toubkal is the most popular mountain peak in Morocco and is the highest peak in the Atlas Mountain range and in North Africa.
THE ASCENT: You approach the mountain from the mountain village of Imlil. Here you hike to the Neltner refuge, which is 4-5 hours away at 3,207 m (10,522 ft). On the summit day you start climbing to the summit at 7am for the 4-5 hour round trip to the summit. The 4,167m summit is crowned with a curious pyramidal metal frame and views take in most of the Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Your itinerary will include a brief description of our trip and an outline of your stays and meals provided. We normally only provide a breakfast at all of our city stop over locations as it gives you the opportunity to vary your cuisine by not being tied to hotel menu for your lunchtime or evening meal. We can provide full board trips on requests in particular if any person has any special dietary needs.

Day 1: MARRACKECH - ARRIVAL DAY. (Ri)
You will be met in the airport and be driven to your riad in exciting Marrakech.
Day 2: IMLIL - DRIVE TO IMLIL VILLAGE. (Ri/B/D)
Drive to the quaint mountain village of Imlil in the Atlas mountains, the base for your mountain climb.
Day 3: NELTNER REFUGE - HIKE TO MOUNTAIN REFUGE. (R/B/PL*/D)*This will be either a PL or a Tagine based meal in the mountain village of Sidi Chamarouch .
From Imlil we hike 5 hours to the Neltner mountain refuge at 3,207 m (10,522 ft), your base for the next few days.
Day 4: NELTNER REFUGE - ACCLIMATISATION DAY. (R/B/L/D)
From the refuge we acclimatise and climb one of the smaller peaks of the area. In the winter, this day will be also be used to familiarise clients with crampons and ice axes. You will return to the refuge for the night.
Day 5: IMLIL - SUMMIT DAY MT TOUBKAL & HIKE DOWN TO IMLIL. (K or Ri/B/L/D)
You will leave at 7am for the five hour climb (three hours up and two hours down) to the summit of Mt Toubkal, which is at 4,167m. After lunch at the refuge you will then hike the three hours back back down to Imlil where depending on your booking option (see prices) you will either stay in a. The luxurious hilltop Kasbah du Toubkal or b. A standard Riad.(K or Ri/B/L/D)
Day 6*: MARRAKECH - DRIVE BACK TO MARRAKECH. (Ri/B)
Drive back to Marrakech where you can have some time to shop and enjoy the city. *This day can also be used as a reserve bad weather day for Mt Toubkal.
Day 7*: MARRAKECH - ACTIVITY/SIGHTSEEING DAY. (Ri/B/D)
Activity day in or near Marrakech. You can have a day white water rafting, kayaking or just have a simple sightseeing day.
*Activities will be charged as an extra supplement.
Day 8: MARRAKECH - DEPARTURE DAY. (B)
We will take you to the airport for your departure flight for the UK.
On our trips we include transport to and from the airport on arrival and departure, all transportation or travel in country including any internal domestic flights, all hotel and trekking lodge accommodation, a dedicated AB leader and all in country guides and porters, any park, mountain fees or permits and any sightseeing/tourist entry fees, Breakfasts at all hotel stays will be provided but lunches and dinners will only be provided where indicated. All meals will be provided during the duration of any trek or climb.
All booked activities and the use of any group equipment such as tents, cooking equipment are included but any additional activities booked with our in country providers will be subject to an additional surcharge.
